I sat down at picnic table at Boulevard Park on Bellingham Bay to record a poem while people played and relaxed. A woman walked by with a banjo and made eye contact with me, then continued on her way. Several moments later she returned and began playing her banjo (brilliantly) on a nearby bench. I knew immediately that she was destined to be recorded for my album! I approached her, introduced myself, she introduced herself as Molly, and then I asked her if she would sit at the table with me and play while I recited a poem. She was ever so ready! She came over and I told her to play something in the public domain or something original and she said she had a old, well-known murder ballad for me called "Pretty Polly." It was perfect and we did it in one take. I like how raw it is.
